Professing truth and love, we will in all things grow into Him Who is the head, Christ.  – Eph 4:15

Reflection.  We can do this because our hope is in the Lord.  He is the best, and He gives the best.  The virtue of hope is defined as an expectation with confidence.  God is on our side.

Prayer.  Dear Lord, thank You for blessing me in the past and thank You for the blessings You plan for me in the future.

Where there is envy and selfish ambition, there will also be disharmony and every type of wickedness.  – Jas 3:16

Reflection.  Words and actions can be abrasive and upsetting.  Those who give in to their feelings can easily disturb the peace.  Those who practice self-restraint help to create an atmosphere of emotional comfort.

Prayer.  Dear Father, give me the strength to hold my tongue when I want to scream in anger.

A glad heart makes the face cheerful, but anguish of heart breaks one’s spirit.  – Prov 15:13

Reflection.  You are the observer of your thoughts.  You can reject negative thoughts, and you should or you will never rise above the image you have of yourself.  Aim high!

Prayer.  Dear Lord, help me to take charge of my thoughts and cancel the ones that put me down.

The Lord showers us with grace and glory.  He does not withhold any good thing from those who walk in integrity.            – Ps 84:12

Reflection.  The Lord favors you with His blessings.  Think about all the good things God has given you:  life, love, friends, family (how else could you have survived from infancy?).  You are really blessed.

Prayer.  Dear Lord, I am so grateful.  I feel Your favor upon me.  Help me to be a blessing to others.

Put on the armor of God, so that you will be able to hold fast on the evil day.  – Eph 6:13

Reflection.  There are times when we need a strong defense system against the attacks of the enemy.  Rely on the power of God’s grace.  He will shield you against your adversary.

Prayer.  Dear Father, protect me against all the slings and arrows of life.  Help me to stand fast in the tough times.

Before you were ever formed in your mother’s womb, I saw you and approved you.  – Jer 1:5

Reflection.  God knew you before you were born.  He has given you certain gifts and talents to develop as you grow in His grace.  Feed His lambs with words of wisdom.  Light the path for others and God will delight in you.

Prayer.  Heavenly Father, help me to fulfill my potential.  Give me the grace to overcome my selfishness.

I am the way, and the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.  – Jn 14:6

Reflection.  The Spirit of Jesus lives in all of His children.  He enriches their lives with His wisdom and truth; and always leads them to His Holy Father.  Jesus is our indispensable guide to heaven.

Prayer.  Dear Lord, show me the way to the Father.  Increase in me the life of Your Holy Spirit.

I will not allow any shameful act to be done before my eyes.  – Ps 101:3

Reflection.  You are not your thoughts.  You are the guardian of your thoughts.  St. Paul tells us to filter our thoughts.  Only think thoughts that are pure and of good report (Phil 4:8).  Reject evil thoughts, and never put yourself down.

Prayer.  Dear Lord, controlling my thoughts has been difficult for me.  Help me to stay positive.

Refresh yourselves with rich food and drink … for this day is holy unto the Lord … they joy of the Lord is your strength.      – Neh 8:10

Reflection.  Victor Hugo once said, “Laughter is the sun that drives the winter from the human face.”  It’s easier to laugh when you develop a joyful attitude.  King David expressed his joy in these words, “I will bless the Lord at all times” (Ps 34:2).

Prayer.  Lord, teach me how to cultivate a joyful attitude, so that Your praise may always be on my lips.

Every good act of giving and every perfect gift are from above.  – Jas 1:17

Reflection.  Every human being is essentially a magnificent creation.  Relish this truth.  You are destined to be totally free of pain and misery.  You have the power to bring the world your own unique gifts and talents.  Never underestimate what God can do with you.

Prayer.  Lord of my life, make me an instrument of Your peace and love.
