Use whatever gift each one of you has received to serve one another.  – 1 Pet 4:10

Reflection.  No matter how modest your means, you can always find a way to help someone in need.  A kind word, an unexpected phone call, or a few dollars given in a time of need can soothe an aching heart.

Prayer.  Jesus, my Savior, increase my desire to be a good steward of my time and talents.

You must regard yourselves as being dead to sin and alive for God in Christ Jesus.  – Rom 6:11

Reflection.  Over a million shoplifters are arrested in America every year.  If you have ever shoplifted and gotten away with it, you owe society a debt.  Why not write a check to your favorite charity in reparation for all your sins?

Prayer.  Dear Jesus, help me to forgive myself for my many follies.

Lord, You are the potter, we are the work of Your hands.  – Isa 64:7

Reflection.  If you feel useless, discouraged, or ugly today, remember this:  “Just when the caterpillar thought her life was over, she became a butterfly.”

Prayer.  Lord, keep my faith alive, especially when I’m blue.  Your wonderful promises give me hope.

The measure that you use for others will be used to measure you.  – Mt 7:2

Reflection.  Kindness begets kindness.  If you want to receive love, then give love.  Give without counting the cost.  What you give to others will come back to you.

Prayer.  Heavenly Father, help me to be a generous giver.

Be reconciled with your brother.  Come to terms quickly with your opponent.  – Mt 5:23, 25

Reflection.  It never hurts to break the ice when hurt feelings are involved.  Why not just call to say you’re sorry if you are in any way at fault?  Decide to forgive, if you have been hurt in any way.  Begin the process of healing, for peace of soul to return.

Prayer.  Lord, help me to forgive before I feel like it.

God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him.  – 1 Jn 4:16

Reflection.  Whether you feel the sun or not doesn’t matter, it is still shining.  The same is true for God.  His love is always present, whether you feel it or not.

Prayer.  Dear Lord, help me to trust Your love no matter what.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may grow rich in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.  – Rom 15:13

Reflection.  Be happy within yourself so that you can be happy with those around you.  The ultimate goal is to be happy with God for all eternity.

Prayer.  Dear God, help me to be a sign of Your love and joy to others.

The grace of God has appeared bringing salvation to the entire human race.  – Tit 2:11

Reflection.  John Newton was an 18th century despised slave trader, whose conversion to Christ changed him into an anti-slavery activist.  As a result he wrote the song, “Amazing Grace.”  He said, “If Grace can change a wretch like me, it can change you too.”

Prayer.  Work a miracle in my life, O Lord; deliver me from my worst weakness.

You have turned my mourning into dancing.  – Ps 30:12a

Reflection.  Every sunrise is a new day, and a new beginning.  Each day God gives us another opportunity to dance in the glow of His light and happiness.  Don’t stand there watching; join the dance.

Prayer.  O Lord, I dance in Your Holy Presence.  My heart sings for joy.

Make my joy complete by being of the same mind, having the same love for one another, and united in thought. – Phil 2:2

Reflection.  People flock to those who are willing to listen.  Become a good listener and you’ll never be lonely again.  All it takes to break out of joyless isolation is a sympathetic ear.

Prayer.  Help me, Lord, to be there for others.
